Week 1 in Houston has been great. Prob the most precise indicator of how we’re doing is the health of our little ones; no fevers here, check; everone healthy, check; grumpiness, borderline – understandable. The little ones just left everything behind and walked into a new world (Austin has been asking for pals Jackson and Calyx and others).. Love to u folks back in the Ham
The church community here has showed us the true meaning of “southern hospitality” and the food down here is to die for. Awesome. Sunday service – felt like I was in my element and preaching was fun – if u can say that sorta thing. It was a sermon I enjoyed crafting and studying for, and stuff I love talking / reflecting on, i.e. Christology (nature of Christ), growth in grace and the process of sanctification (what the Reformed call “glorification” and the Orthodox call “divinization”) and of course missional church stuff – what good friends in the Roosevelt neighborhood hv taught me as a gospel in, for, and WITH the neighborhood.
On to our first weekly sabbath day of rest as a family. Looking forward to establishing new rhythms of life here in Houston.
Wayne – Glad to hear the transition is going smoothly. Cheering you on from SD, bro! Excited to see what God does in & through you in Houston. If you can fix the humidity problem down there, maybe I’ll visit one day :D
