The Year Ahead. God-Willing.
Two resolutions on my mind as the last hours of 2009 tick away. One is opening myself up to receive more pastoring – which means less reticence / privacy on my part and more openness. The second is to blog more often, if only as a means to reflect / regurgitate all this learning. Like still water putrifies, it’s necessary to stir up these abstract theological ideas into reality.
At any rate, here is the step-by-step plan for the year ahead, God-willing. I think it’s no secret anymore that we’re planning to
move back to New York.
So in the hopes of transitioning well we have begun to sell our stuff off at Craigslist – gimme a shout if you want any of my stuff at reduced price or maybe even free? We’ve also been talking with potential renters for our home. Not just ready to sell yet.
LAST SEMESTER ON-CAMPUS @ REGENT
I’m thrilled about this not because I want to leave – I love the school – but I’m so ready to be done. The next semester is gonna be killer and it ends in April. After that I’ll have 4 classes left, 1 of which I plan to take with the Evangelical Covenant Ordination class as I work towards ordination concurrently, and another class I will take as a distance / audio.
UNION THEOLOGICAL IN NYC?
The remaining two classes (Hebrew language req’s) I plan to take next Fall / Winter at a leisurely pace @ the bastion of theological liberalism in NYC: Union Theological Seminary. As a theological conservative, I view it as a chance to sharpen my academics in an adverse environment? And if I like it we’ll see…
JUNE 2010
- is our projected departure date. Everything is not concretely lined-up for us there yet but rather than wait for something to open up we’re heading back regardless. Family on both sides is urging us to return asap, and this thing called “responsibility” beckons. So I’m open to taking whatever work I can find, in the hopes that God orchestrates everything perfectly in the next 6 mos. So that’s the plan.
God-willing.

Thanks for the update Wayne. FYI I was once a “liscenced Preacher” in the Covenant. I let it lapse because it had no practical value. They let me preach with or without it!
It will be exciting to see how the Lord leads you and your family as you journey back East. God bless you all as you follow Him!
